Four Types of Tea

 Four Types of Tea

There are four different types of tea with many different blends under them, each with their own subtleties and distinct flavor:

Black Tea is allowed to wither, oxidize, and dry out completely.  When steeped, it will give a full and hearty amber colored brew.  The most famous of the black teas is Darjeeling.

Ooolong Tea is withered and only partially oxidized.  Again, it is dried.  Oolong is a pleasant taste and is somewhere between a green and black tea in flavor.

White Tea is the least processed and has the most delicate flavor.  Very rare from China, and is not oxidized, but withered.  When steeped, the tea is a very pale brew.

Green Tea is not oxidized. It is simply withered and then dried. It has a more delicate and pleasant taste and is pale green in color.

Rooibos Tea is not actually a tea, but more of an herbal drink.  Because of it's many health benefits, it has come to be known as 'Red Tea'.  You can learn more by visiting the What is Rooibos Tea? page.
